YES-EXECOM meeting in Ljubljana, Slovenia, 11 - 14 May 2006 Print E-mail

The YES-EXECOM meeting brought together Slovenian entrepreneurs and 136 young European entrepreneurs from 10 countries for meetings and discussions on "Mobility" (emerging trends in transport, exciting developments in communications and changes in the driving force of globalisation, mobility of production factors capital and labour). Discussions on how mobility and technological development has profoundly affected the ways companies are structured, involved very prominent speakers including Dr. Ernesto Illy, founder and Honorary President of Illycafe (who explained the importance of mobility in business with a view to the globalisation process), Matej Pangerc, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Parsek Systems, Dr. Marcos Bavdaž, Head of Advanced Technologies and Advanced Concepts Office at European Space Agency (who illustrated the remarkable impact of space mobility on our daily life) and Lama Shenphen Rinpoche, Leader of Tibetan Buddhism Congregation Dharmaling, bringing a more philosophical perspective on mobility and human mind.Part of the meeting was dedicated to Architecture as a generator of local and international interestWith Boštjan Vuga, Slovenian Architect, and Juergen Maier, architect and professor at the Columbia University of New York discussed the effects of avant-garde architecture on local economics, dynamic tourism and transforming aspects of urban culture, especially talking about the "Bilbao Effect" with the new Guggenheim Museum in Spain opened in 1997.
